We are proud to bring the following artists to Orangeville for
our 2008-2009 Concert Season...
Joe Trio
Friday, October 17th, 2008
Joe Trio’s members are fantastic performers who engage the audience in a way few classical musicians can. Amply witty, charming, and tremendously musical, Joe Trio leaves audiences with a new appreciation for classical music. They are not your average piano trio. They don’t want to be neatly categorized, but instead strive for diversity, versatility, and more than a little humour and unpredictability. Their repertoire consists of the classics, from Papa Haydn to Uncle Shostakovich, new works by contemporary composers, and their own arrangements of popular, jazz and rock tunes. They’ve been featured on CBC’s Vinyl Café and have toured North America extensively.

Brubeck/Braid
Friday, November 14th, 2008
David Braid and Matt Brubeck form an unusual piano/cello jazz duo. One of Canada's most gifted young jazz pianists and composers, David is a Juno Award winner, and has performed extensively around the world. In 2001, the Canada Council showcased him as one of five important young composers and jazz musicians in Canada. Matt Brubeck is a composer / performer specializing in improvisation on the cello. Raised on jazz and classically trained at Yale, he’s comfortable in multiple musical categories. He’s also a guest instructor for Shauna Rolston's cello master class at the University of Toronto. (And, yes, he is the tallest son of Dave.)

Stewart Goodyear
Friday, March 13th, 2009
Known for imagination, a graceful, elegant style and exquisite technique, Stewart Goodyear is an accomplished 30-year-old Toronto-born artist whose career is clearly on the rise. His repertoire spans many genres – concerto soloist, chamber musician, recitalist and composer. He has performed with many major orchestras in Europe and North America including the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, the New York Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, and five separate appearances with the Philadelphia Orchestra. He also does something almost no classical pianist will: he improvises candenzas, right on the spot. He embraces jazz and classical. These days he's on the road almost constantly.

Nexus
Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Formed in 1971, Nexus touches and entertains people of all levels of musical learning, in all types of percussion music. This group of five virtuoso artists brings elements of their knowledge and character to a distinct and powerful whole. They stand out in the contemporary music scene for the innovation and diversity of their programs, their impressive history of collaborations and commissions, their revival of 1920's novelty ragtime xylophone music, and their influential improvisatory ideas. Nexus' musicianship has led the group to tours of Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Brazil, Scandinavia, Europe, and regularly to the United States and Canada.
