Mark Haines and Tom Leighton
Fri., Nov. 4th, 2011 @ 8pm
Mark Haines and Tom Leighton established themselves as a duo in 1992 with the release of their first CD, “Foot To Floor, Repeat On Beat”. They perform an original and traditional repertoire influenced by their Celtic and North American folk roots. Engaging humour and personality has made them popular in several circuits performing in theatres, festivals, concerts, and clubs. Their ramblings have taken them along Canadian highways from Ontario to the Maritimes, into the mountains of New York, across the sea to Britain and around the world to Taipei, Taiwan.
Mark’s voice is one of a kind. Add Tom’s superb harmony arranging skills, and the stories and pictures in their songs come vividly to life. They are multi-instrumentalists combining the “tug at your heart strings” traditional fiddle, accordion, guitar, bouzouki, and bodhran, blended with the “turn on your ears” new technology of synthesizers, tone generators and processors.

Bruce Ley Gathered All Together
Fri., Jan. 27th, 2012 @ 8pm
Bruce has gathered together a superb group of musicians and singers for a concert certain to be joyous. Much like the wonderful benefit he led for Matthew Fleming, there will be a wide variety of musical styles representative of Bruce’s lengthy professional career.
A well established composer and studio player, Bruce will perform original arrangements of popular standards, as well as his own new material. The piano player of ‘Grand Old Country’ will be sure to include country music in his repertoire. And as the guitar player in the award winning ‘Trouble and Strife’ band, you can count on some wailing blues. Those who are a fan of Bruce’s thoughtful jazz improvisations will not be disappointed either. You may have seen this mellow performer and long time Dufferin County resident playing guitar in a blues festival, on stage at a theatre in the role of musical director, or playing piano in various jazz ensembles. Be there as Bruce takes centre stage and gathers it all together in a memorable evening of music, art, and insight. |
